We are a support department for the Saskatchewan Polytechnic community. We assist programs by ensuring that they have access to user-friendly technologies to enhance learning/classes for our students. Our Learning Technologies teams provide faculty with the tools, training and learning platforms to enhance a student’s education; either through in-person or virtual learning.

The Audio Visual (AV) Services group supports the design, purchasing and ongoing technical support of audio visual equipment at Sask Polytech. The AV team also assists with the technical management and/or operation of services including:

  • Active learning classrooms design and tech support
  • CCTV tech support
  • Conferencing end point tech support (Zoom Rooms)
  • Live streaming classroom and remote teaching design and tech support
  • Tech support for all learning spaces, presentation system design, installation, and maintenance
  • Tech support for live and virtual events

The course material production specialists (CMPs) are responsible for publishing course content for students – both online and print. Online courses are published to Brightspace via Dreamweaver and utilize rubrics, quizzes, self-assessments, discussions, etc. Print manuals are for sale in The Campus Store. CMPs collaborate with programs, the learning technologies project and change manager, instructional designers, graphic design analysts, and web developers through the course development process. Together we assist in bringing student learning material to life!

The Graphic Design Analyst (GDA) team provides graphic support for both web and print course development and projects. Using specialized knowledge of graphic design, highly developed drawing, and image manipulation skills to create high quality, engaging and pedagogically graphics to support student learning.

The team creates a wide variety of graphics including technical illustrations, technical drawings, medical illustration, schematics, digitally enhanced photographs, cartoons, flow charts, info graphics, logos, icons, and other graphics that meet Saskatchewan Polytechnics quality and design standards.

Instructional designers (IDs) work closely with instructors from a variety of programs to develop fully online and blended courses following our quality standards for courses in D2L Brightspace. We collaborate with diverse teams within Learning Technologies, accessibility office, ILDC, copyright office, library, quality assurance & learner pathways. 

The instructional design team's primary focus is supporting programs approved through the integrated development funds (IDF). Every year the IDF application occurs through the office of the associate vice-president of learning and teaching. IDs are also available for consultation requests from instructors and programs looking for support with their online course development.

Under the supervision of solutions architect, our team provides the Sask Polytech community with technical support for all aspects of the learning technology ecosystem. We provide system administration, configuration, integration, guidance, and support for the variety of platforms related to teaching and learning as well as the identification, troubleshooting, resolution or escalation of online learning system issues.

Learning technology trainers provide formal and informal opportunities for scheduled, just-in-time, individual, and group training sessions on a variety of topics such as Brightspace, Zoom and Kaltura MediaSpace.

The Project and Change Management Office leads a multi-disciplinary team engaged in developing courses for online and blended delivery. The project manager supports projects through their life cycle from the proposal stage to final delivery.

Learning Technologies solutions architects lead in the advancement of technology on an enterprise level for Sask Polytech by collaborating with administration, faculty, professional services, and external vendors to develop solutions that optimize the use of technology in teaching and learning.
