“Always finish what you started; never give up on your dreams!”
Cole Crowe had many friends and family come to Saskatchewan Polytechnic who inspired
him to attend. He says, “They had great experiences and told me the instructors were
excellent.”
Enrolled in the Justice Services diploma program, Cole aspires to join the RCMP upon
graduation, where he hopes to “give back and inspire youth by being a positive role
model.”
Cole is also a reservist signal operator in the Canadian Armed Forces; a fond memory
was his proud family cheering him on at the end of his five-week Army Reserve Basic
Military Training Qualification. He says, “For any young Indigenous person, I would
strongly recommend joining Bold Eagle. You will meet people from different parts of
Canada, learn structure, discipline, how to work as a team and forever have a bond
with your platoon.”
The First Nations student credits the support he’s received on campus for helping
him move in the direction of his dreams. “I’ve used the Indigenous student advisor
services and participated in the activities the Indigenous Students’ Centre puts on
every week,” he says.
Although faced with financial constraints, student awards helped alleviate some stress,
as well as careful budgeting. “After working and earning a decent paycheque, I have
to save and ration my spending to make it to the end of the year,” Cole says.
Cole encourages others to keep pursuing their goals. He shares a favourite quote by
Henry David Thoreau: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life
you have imagined.”
