“It’s worth it to invest in yourself.”
Sage Isbister has been interested in carpentry for several years. After attending multiple career fairs at Saskatchewan Polytechnic, her father encouraged her and supported her through the process of enrolling in the program.
She appreciates the support and encouragement as a woman in an underrepresented industry.
"Some of my favourite memories happened at the Indigenous Students’ Centre with Indigenous student advisors at sharing circles," she says.
Sage wants to stay close to home by working in Prince Albert. She plans on returning for her third-year apprenticeship training after obtaining her required hours of experience.
After hesitating to join a program in a field she's passionate about, her advice to others is, "Don’t let your mind get in the way of pursuing your dreams and getting a career."
