“Keep trying, keep going and never give up.”
Chareece McKay first joined Saskatchewan Polytechnic as a student enrolled in the Literacy and Adult Education Partners for Success program in 2024.
"I wanted to get my foot back in the door and continue my education because I’d been out of school for a few years as a first-time mother," she says.
Through the program, she learned more about the Continuing Care Assistant program.
"Looking after our elderly people in their most vulnerable state is my passion. I love to see them strive and to encourage their independence. Knowledge will also help me to look after my grandma when she needs it," she says.
She pursued the Continuing Care Assistant program in tandem with her older sister.
"I really loved the opportunity of getting to accomplish a program with my big sister by my side every step of the way while encouraging each other to keep going and never give up," she says.
She’s grateful for the help she received.
"I used Learning Services at the start of the program because it had been a while since I was enrolled into any schooling and I was having some trouble," she says. "I’m very thankful for the supports I had. With the encouragement, I kept going and I’m so proud of how far I’ve come within this school year."
