Students in Co-operative Education have access to Orbis, an online job posting system. Use these guides for instruction on initial registration and how to use Orbis. 

For mandatory programs

  1. If you are on campus while logging in, make sure you don’t use the Sask Polytech Wi-Fi. Instead, connect with eduroam. You will not receive the necessary reset email if you are using Sask Polytech Wi-Fi. In your web browser of choice, go to https://hirecoop.saskpolytech.ca/.
  2. In the top right corner of the page, click “Forgot Password”.
  3. Enter your SaskPolytech Student ID number - leaving out the preceding zeros - into the “Your Login ID” field. For example, if your id is 000294001, enter 294001.
  4. Click “Email Reset Password Link”.
  5. Log into your Sask Polytech email and click on the email titled “Password Reset” that is coming from coopeducation@saskpolytech.ca.
  6. Click on the link “Click here to reset your password”.
  7. Create your new password, and re-enter it in the second field. Click “Reset Password”.
  8. You will receive a notification that your password has been reset. You can either stay on this page for 10 seconds to automatically be redirected to the login page, or you can click the link to go to the login page.
  9. Enter your Sask Polytech Student ID number in the “Login” field, and your newly created password in the “Password” field. 
  1. In your browser of choice, go to https://hirecoop.saskpolytech.ca/ and click “Students” in the top right corner, then select “Student Login” from the drop-down menu.
  2. Enter your Sask Polytech student ID number (without any preceding zeros) in the “Login” field and your password (created above) in the “password” field. Click “Submit”.
  1. Log in to Orbis as per the instructions above.
  2. Click on CO-OP ED at the left side of the screen.
  3. You must accept the terms and conditions of Co-op to view jobs.
    • Click on CO-OP ED on the far-left side in the purple border.
    • You should see a Work Term displayed (e.g.,. 2023 – Summer).
    • Click “Accept Terms and Conditions” to read them and Click “Accept”.
  4. If you have met all the conditions set out by your Co-op coordinator, you will be able to see jobs once they begin being posted on Orbis. 
  1. Click on CO-OP ED on the left side panel to expand the section.
  2. Click on “Documents”.
  3. Click on the blue rectangle that says “Upload Document".
  4. Fill in the fields:
    • Name the document (Be specific. If it is a cover letter for a specific job, give it the company name and job #. E.g., XYZ Company Inc. #3201. This will make it easier to find later).
    • Select the file type (Cover letter, resume, other). Transcripts are uploaded by the Co-op office.
    • Click the “Choose File” button to upload the document from your computer. Select the correct file, and click “open”.
  5. Once all three fields have been completed, click “Upload Document”. 

You must have accepted the terms and conditions.

  1. In the “CO-OP ED” section on the left side of the screen, click on “Job Postings” .
  2. Click “View all available postings”.
  3. The list of job postings for your program will open. Click on the job title to view the full job description.
  4. If you are interested in the position, click “Apply”.
  1. Click on the “Apply” button on the job posting.
  2. In the “SUBMIT APPLICATION” section, click the circle beside “create a customized application package”.
  3. Complete the package name field with the company name, and select the appropriate cover letter, resume, and transcript and any additional documents (in that order).
    • These are the documents that you uploaded in the “Uploading Documents” section. If the document you are looking for is not there, go back to the “Uploading Documents” section and re-upload it.
  4. Click on the blue “Submit Application” button.

It is essential that you create and upload a separate cover letter for each job, but you will always use the same resume.

Each application must include a cover letter, resume and transcript. (Your transcript will be uploaded by our department.) Failure to do so will result in an incomplete application

  1. After the closing date of a job, you will be notified (via your Sask Polytech email) if you have been chosen to interview for the position.
  2. Only students chosen for an interview will receive an email.
  3. Once notified, sign up for the interview times as follows:
    • Click on My Interviews.
    • Click on Schedule to the right of the job. To select a time, click Schedule beside the time of your choice.
    • Once you have selected your time slot, click My Interviews to return to your interview listing.

For optional programs

You must register for Co-op by following these instructions:

  1. Log in to Orbis as per the instructions above.
  2. Click on CO-OP ED at the left side of the screen.
  3. Click “Apply to a Program” on the top right corner of your screen.
    1. Search for your program in the list (all Accounting students should choose BACC-1).
    2. Click Apply.
    3. Click Submit Application.
    4. Your application will remain pending until we approve it.
    5. Once your application is approved (often this happens the same business day), you must accept the terms and conditions of Co-op:
      1. Click on DASHBOARD on the far-left side.
      2. On the far right you will see Terms and Conditions. “Click Here to Accept” Read the terms and click Accept at the bottom.
    6. If you have met all the requirements, you should be able to view jobs when the posting start date begins. 
  1. Click on “CO-OP ED” on the left side panel to expand the section.
  2. Click on “Documents”.
  3. Click on the blue rectangle that says “Upload Document”.
  4. Fill in the fields:
    • Name the document (Be specific. If it is a cover letter for a specific job, give it the company name and job #. E.g., XYZ Company #3201. This will make it easier to find later).
