Horsetail plants tend to favour cool, moist, forested areas. Species grow from low to the ground to 1 metre tall. All horsetails are characterized by jointed, grooved, hollow stems with a honeycomb like top where the spores are housed. Horsetails reproduce by spores as opposed to seed. They are primitive plants dating back over 300 million years.

Horsetail or stovepipes, grows in abundance here and is an herbal remedy for bladder infections when used in a tea, this herb is commonly used as a hair and scalp rinse to nourish and strengthen. A tea can be made with horsetail to help heal wounds, and ease discomfort of bug bites and skin irritations.
