Indigenous Applicants’ Resources

We are honoured that you are considering Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Post-secondary education is a big decision and our team of Indigenous community liaisons and student success support coaches are here to support you every step of the way.

Apply for free

Indigenous applicants can apply to one Sask Polytech program for free until March 13.  

Individuals who can verify Indigenous ancestry including Status/Treaty Indian, Non-Status Indian, Métis and Inuit.

Individuals who have submitted their application or who are already enrolled in a program are not eligible.  
Applicants will be required to show proof of ancestry (ie: treaty or Métis card) to a Sask Polytech Indigenous community relations team member.   
You can apply for more than one program however, only one application fee per applicant will be free.   
Sask Polytech offers two types of admission methods: Competitive and First Qualified/First Admitted (FQFA). Most Sask Polytech programs use FQFA so be sure to apply early for a better chance of getting into the program you want. Competitive admission closes February 15.

Please reach out to our team at least two days before the application deadline to ensure we have time to work with you before your program application is due.

Indigenous education is a top priority at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Indigenous students may face unique barriers to accessing post-secondary education. Waiving application fees helps remove the financial barrier of applying to a program at Sask Polytech.  

 

Student awards and bursaries

Thanks to the generosity of donors and alumni, Sask Polytech provides approximately $2 million in student awards every school year. Visit the student awards page to learn more and apply!

Sask Polytech Indigenous Nursing (SPIN)

Wîcihitowin Transition Program

The Wîcihitowin Transition Program, previously known as the Summer Transition Program, is open to all Indigenous students registered for Sask Polytech programs starting in the fall term. It is offered on main campuses in Prince Albert, Regina and Saskatoon. There are no registration or application fees.

  • Being the first point of contact for information and advice for applicants and future students
  • Supporting post-secondary transition programs for Indigenous students based on a clear understanding of education needs
  • Extending invitations to new students to the Wîcihitowin Transition Program and other events
  • Recruiting more Indigenous students through high school visits, presentations and workshops at high schools, adult basic education programs and guidance counsellor workshops
  • Working with counsellors, teachers, parents, external community partners and the public
