Our Indigenous Student Services team is dedicated to your success.

Indigenous community liaisons are your first point of contact, offering advice and helping you apply to and prepare for post-secondary education.
Indigenous student advisors support your journey at Sask Polytech with career planning, funding, housing, child care and connections to community resources.
Indigenous student support coordinators offer personalized support, culturally grounded services and connect you to cultural, academic and community resources.
Indigenous Students' Centre coordinators create a welcoming hub with cultural supports, community, Elders and academic resources. They also host a variety of activities and events throughout the year.

Rosemarie Zaba Stewart

Tanshi. I am Rosemarie Zaba Stewart and have worked in the student advisor role with Indigenous Student Success Strategy since 2011. I serve students, faculty and staff at the Moose Jaw campus. For 25 years prior, all of my professional work experience has been in a clinical social work therapist/counselor capacity working as a mental health practitioner in private practice as well as in government, non-government and school counselor settings. Throughout the temperate seasons, you will likely find me in our garden enjoying the beautiful flora and fauna. I am always excited to have the opportunity to get to welcome our incoming and returning students and to have the honour and opportunity of being a beneficial influence in the academic success of our Sask Polytechnic students.

Darcy Boisson

My name is Darcy Boisson and I am Métis. I was born and raised in Prince Albert on Treaty 6 Territory and Homeland of the Métis people. I am a Métis graduate of SUNTEP at the University of Saskatchewan. I was a substitute teacher for a year in Prince Albert and area before beginning my 16 year career at Saskatchewan Penitentiary. I have had various roles within the correctional service where I have gained experience in working with Indigenous peoples. Last March, I had the opportunity to instruct the Security Officer Supported program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic Prince Albert campus and jumped at the opportunity to return. I look forward to working with our Indigenous Students and supporting them throughout Saskatchewan Polytechnic Indigenous Student Success Strategy - Wichitowin ahci kaskihtamasowin ati nikan.

Tracy Gobeil

Tracy is a proud, Métis woman who grew up in North-East Saskatchewan. Tracy has a personal and professional passion for Indigenous student support, with over 16 years of experience supporting Indigenous adult learners. Tracy has completed a 4-year Bachelor of Arts Degree in Indigenous Studies from the University of Saskatchewan, as well as a post-degree certificate in Leadership in Post-Secondary Education, also through the University of Saskatchewan. Tracy’s teaching and advising style is based in andragogy and adult learning principals, taking into account the specific needs of adult learners. Tracy’s teaching style is a blend of intellectual and experiential engagement rooted in land and community-based approaches. Tracy’s goal is to enhance student engagement and persistence.

Mckenna Hall

My name is Mckenna Hall. I’m excited to join the team as the Indigenous community liaison at Prince Albert campus. I am a proud Métis woman with a strong passion for empowering Indigenous communities, breaking down barriers and ensuring everyone has access to the opportunities they deserve.

I hold a Bachelor of Education and am currently working towards completing my Master of Science degree. I had the privilege of playing with the Huskie Women’s Soccer team throughout my time at the University of Saskatchewan. This experience taught me valuable lessons in teamwork and leadership which I carry with me in my personal and professional life.

Recently, I worked as a high school coordinator and health and wellness consultant in Montreal Lake Cree Nation.

Other interests of mine include health, sports and coaching. I like to think of myself as an optimistic leader, someone who connects easily with others and fosters a positive environment. I am excited to continue making a difference and work alongside others to create meaningful change for Indigenous students

Shayleen is a Cree-Métis woman born and raised on Treaty 6 Territory. Her background is in corrections and more recently mental health. She has been at Sask Polytech for four years and in the Human Services field for 16 years.

Carla Powell

Tansi, my name is Carla Powell, and I am a Lac La Ronge band member, and I have been an educator for 22 years. My past working experience has encompassed classroom teaching, curriculum development, administration, and educational counselling. I worked as a teacher therapist for the Ministry of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing, as a teacher of standing and principal for 17 years at Pine Grove Correctional Centre.

I have experience in creating innovative teaching strategies by integrating technology, culturally responsive pedagogy, curriculum design for diverse learners, leadership in education regarding best practices for school administration, team management and student academic support. As an Indigenous educator, I support students by introducing them to culturally authentic experiences such as attending sweat lodge ceremony, smudging, round dance, pow wow and talking circles. I have excellent networking skills and an in-depth knowledge of accessing community resources and skilled in creating an inclusive atmosphere.

Shara Allary

Hello! I am Shara Allary and I am very honored to join the Sask Polytech community as an Indigenous community liaison with wĪtōkamāhtōtān Student Success. I was born in Yorkton and predominantly raised in Regina. I am a Métis Cree woman and am proud member of Saskatchewan Metis Nation. I have two beautiful children and am excited to cheer on my son at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, as he will represent Team Canada and will be competing in wheelchair basketball. After raising my children, I returned to secondary education. I have been awarded two degrees from the University of Regina with a focus in film production and a focus in Indigenous studies. I have been passionate about education since an early age and look forward to extending that passion to the Sask Polytech student population.

I currently work as a crisis worker and very much enjoy my role as a support worker. I have been working in this field for over three years and have been humbled to be able to serve and support our community members. Professionally one of my goals is to promote and support Indigenous excellence in all aspects of academic and personal aspirations. As a Métis woman my personal values are to foster platforms and environments that allow Indigenous people to amplify their voices with the intent of creating safe spaces that allow people to thrive.

Brandi Kohl

Biography

Brandi Kohl

Brandi is part of the Métis Nation Saskatchewan and originally from local 25, Southeast Saskatchewan. Brandi is a Sask Polytech alumna. She graduated from the Saskatoon campus with the Youth Care Worker certificate in 2003. She has spent most of her career working in various non-profits, with most of her time as the youth skills coordinator at the Rainbow Youth Centre. She is married and a mother of three children. She returned to school as a mature student and took most of her classes while working full time. In 2018, she graduate with her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina. After her degree, she worked with the Saskatchewan Health Authority as a clinical social worker. Brandi started a career at Sask Polytech, as the Indigenous Students’ Centre coordinator, in Regina in December 2019.

Brooklyn Neveu

tanisi! I am Brooklyn Neveu. I am a nêhiyaw woman from Sturgeon Lake First Nation. I am a graduate from Indian Teacher Education Program (ITEP) and a graduate from the Indigenous Languages Certificate Program. My background history is working in Saskatoon elementary schools. I am dedicated to helping Indigenous students at Sask polytechnic by overcoming barriers, making them feel welcome, and helping them succeed. I look forward to watching students accomplish their learning and career goals.

Genevieve Davis is Inuk from Nunavut who has lived in Saskatoon for over a decade. Genevieve has committed her professional life to working with students and Indigenous communities.

Marlon Weekusk

Marlon Weekusk

Marlon Weekusk is a journeyman welder and the founder of Marmar Media, a growing media company dedicated to cultural preservation and amplifying Indigenous stories. Through photography, videography and creative production, Marlon uses media as a tool to raise visibility, inspire youth and celebrate community voices.

He is a graduate of the Edwards School of Business, earning a Bachelor of Commerce in management with a minor in marketing, and holds a Business Administration diploma from SIIT in Saskatoon. Outside of his entrepreneurial and technical work, Marlon actively participates in culture and community gatherings. His blend of cultural knowledge, business education, and creative passion continues to shape everything he does—both professionally and personally.
