Technology Accreditation Canada (TAC) presented the faculty at Saskatchewan Polytechnic certificates recognizing national program accreditation for fourteen engineering technology and applied science programs (see below).

The audit of each program involved interviews with employers of graduates, alumni and students. Common to all programs, audit teams noted highly engaged faculty committed to student success, including the delivery of broad curriculum which provides graduates with employment opportunities in various sectors of their respective industries. The audits revealed positive input from program advisory committees and students entering the workplace with strong technical and problem solving skills, particularly those with co-op experience.

“Accrediting fourteen programs is an incredible achievement and we congratulate Saskatchewan Polytechnic, its administration and faculty,” says Richard Stamper, TAC executive director. “National program accreditation signifies an alignment of these programs with the current standards of the profession and clearly demonstrates the polytechnic’s leadership and commitment to its students, faculty, industry and government.”

In addition, accreditation provides a streamlined pathway towards professional certification as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) through Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians.

“Sask Polytech has always been respectful of the value and need to have its programs accredited as this demonstrates commitment to our students, industry and partners. We want to ensure we meet and exceed these expectations,” says Jamie Hilts, dean, School of Mining, Energy, and Manufacturing and School of Natural Resources and Built Environment. “To this point, the TAC accreditation process was a significant undertaking by Sask Polytech and I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the members of the TAC audit teams, members of SASTT and of course the faculty and staff of the 14 programs that we are recognizing.”
