Related Professional Experience

  • Worked as an addictions counsellor in youth inpatient and adult and youth outpatient locations for over a decade, maintaining a casual position as addictions counselor with Saskatchewan Health Authority which aids insight into current trends and issues.
  • Involvement in rural community capacity which gave insight into Primary Care in rural, farm and reserve capacities and allowed for investment and creative support in numerous prevention and education programs.
  • Member of implementation team for Health Authority smoke free policy in 2008 which led to specialty training in tobacco cessation and membership in Saskatchewan Tobacco Coalition.
    Previous experience with SGI safe driving program and current contract work with SGI as an instructor for alcohol and drug education.

Selected Grants and/or Research Projects

  • Created early recovery program for young adults which was funded through Chronic Disease Network Access Program.
  • Poster Presenter at National Issues of Substance Conference on data compiled with smoking cessation in older adults.
