Saskatchewan Polytechnic has over 1,800 full-time equivalent employees and over 500 part-time employees.

  • Most employees are represented by either Saskatchewan Polytechnic Faculty Association (SPFA) or Professional Services Bargaining Unit (PSBU).
  • Paid leave includes vacation for staff, and sick, personal and compassionate/bereavement leave for faculty and staff.
  • Benefit coverages may vary depending on whether you are a member of SPFA, PSBU or are out of scope.

Employer paid

Sask Polytech pays 100 per cent of the costs for basic health benefits, dental coverage and the Employee Family Assistance Program for faculty and staff. This includes your spouse and dependents.

Professional Services Bargaining Unit (PSBU) members and out of scope employees receive an annual flexible spending account. Staff choose where to allocate the funds, such as into a health spending account, RRSP or TFSA.
Employee and Family Assistance Program provides confidential access to professional counselling services seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

  • Prescribed drug costs
  • Vision care
  • Massage therapy, physiotherapy, counselling services
Examples of coverage include:
  • Basic, routine and preventative services
  • Major restorative services (orthodontist, denturist)


Cost-shared contributions

Employees and Sask Polytech cost share contributions to other benefits. The amount varies depending on whether you are a member of SPFA, SGEU or are out of scope.  

Highlights include:
  • Basic coverage is equal to two times (2x) annual salary.
  • Coverage for spouse and dependents.
Replaces income lost in the event of a lengthy disability.
PEPP provides a retirement benefit to members and is Canada’s largest defined contribution pension plan.
