This course gives an overview of the Transfusion Science knowledge required by an entry level MLT. This course provides a review of blood group systems and the procedures used to detect and identify antigens and antibodies. You will revisit the theory required to diagnose, treat and prevent hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn, and diagnose and treat autoimmune hemolytic anemias. Also covered is the theory needed to provide compatible products for transfusion and investigate adverse effects of transfusion.
