Principles/Outpatient Surgery (NURS-1658)
You will review principles of nursing practice as they apply to procedures performed in a variety of outpatient settings. You will study process, roles/responsibilities, legal/moral obligations and measures to ensure patient and staff safety. This course will provide an introduction to the principles of asepsis, sterilization, disinfection, and infection prevention in the outpatient setting. It will also provide information on identification, safe use and care of instruments, equipment and supplies for the performance of procedures. You will study pre and post procedure care including methods of anaesthesia, recovery from anaesthesia, discharge, and follow up.
