You will be introduced to telecommunication transport technologies. You will practice your fiber cable measuring, splicing and installation skills. Your studies will help prepare you to be recognized by the Fiber-Optics-Association (FOA).

A 35 hour training program that includes both the theory and practical aspects of fiber optic cable in the areas of communication and data transmission. Designed for individuals who wish to increase their knowledge and gain hands-on skills in fiber optics technology in preparation for writing the Fiber Optics Association exam. The course has two components: a theory component, and a hands-on component where emphasis is placed on the practical aspects of working with fiber optic cables, including connectorization, fusion splicing and testing. This course is certified by the Fiber Optics Association. It includes the basic theory of fiber optics and focusses on practical techniques and issues in installing, terminating, troubleshooting and documenting fiber optic systems to industry standards. Applications such as telephone systems, computer networks CATC, and video systems are emphasized.
