You will develop knowledge and skills relevant to focused nursing settings including intravenous (IV) therapy, initiation of peripheral IV therapy, use of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), accessing an implanted port, and basic care of surgical drains. You will study aseptic technique and discuss various dressing supplies for basic dressing changes and wound packing. In a simulated lab setting, you will practice and demonstrate skills related to IV initiation, PICC dressing change, accessing an implanted port, basic dressing changes including wound packing.
