This is an introductory course into the machine shop workspace. Each week will be focused on a different area of machining and students will receive orientation and hands on experience. Week one will focus on the lathe; week two, the milling machine; week three, CNC-Machining; week four, print reading, precision measurement and heat treatment; week five, drilling machines and drill sharpening. Student will complete a project that they can keep while gaining a basic understanding of the machinist work environment and career.
