Insertion & Carving of Amalgam (DENT-1600)

Through self-study, class discussions, preclinical laboratories, preclinical assignments on a dentoform maniken, and clinical requirements on dental office patients, you will learn to place amalgam restorations in a variety of tooth preparations. You will develop a basic understanding of the safety of dental amalgam, the dental amalgam controversy, relevant dental anatomy, the establishment of a healthy occlusion, and the materials used in amalgam restorations.

Course information will be distributed/accessed the week of July 29, 2019-the home study components must be finished before attending the weekend labs.  Labs will take place in Regina on September 21 & 22 from 9:00-4:00.  Students must find a dentist or dental therapist to mentor them for this course.  Preclinical assignments are done in your dental office and are due by November 8.  Clinical requirements done in office are due by December 13.  Tuition costs include manuals and other associated documents as well as the preclinical dentoform.  Course requires a minimum of 8 students to run.
