Step 6 – Explore and Have Fun

Nicknamed “The Land of Living Skies,” Saskatchewan is a beautiful province with a rich mix of history and culture. Be sure to take advantage of everything that Saskatchewan has to offer while you are studying in Canada!

Leisure and social activities

You are here to study, but you can’t study all the time. Leisure and social activities are an essential part of your life and are vital to your well-being—in moderation, of course.

Most on-campus activities are organized by student groups. Your campus Students' Association organizes most of the campus-wide events. Students will organize their own events by class or program as fundraisers for their grads (or just for fun). Check for events and activities on mySaskPolytech, bulletin boards and through your class representatives.
Off-campus opportunities abound. Each of our cities has a rich selection of leisure and recreation events and opportunities. Here are a few links and major events to help you stay in the loop in your city.

Parks in Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan boasts two national parks: Prince Albert National Park in the northern boreal forest and Grasslands National Park in the rolling hills of the southwest. The two national parks are perfect examples of the province’s varied landscape. Saskatchewan also has plenty of provincial and regional parks to explore. Visitors can enjoy wildlife viewing, camping, fishing, boating, swimming and hiking along the various trails.
