Language Centre

Saskatchewan Polytechnic programs are taught in English. If your first language is not English, you may need to show that you can read, write, speak and understand English well enough to succeed in your chosen program.

Language Testing

To protect the health of test takers in light of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), IELTS and CELPIP tests have been suspended in Saskatchewan Polytechnic (Regina and Saskatoon Campuses) until further notice.

Only locations for IELTS (paper based) tests in Saskatchewan (Swift Current and Estevan) are currently open. Please take care to look after your health at this time by following the latest information and advice.

Our Programs

Saskatchewan Polytechnic offers several English proficiency tests to measure your skills.

Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)

CELPIP is the Canadian English Language Test for Immigration to Canada. The CELPIP General is a four-skill (listening, reading, writing and speaking) English language proficiency test designated by Citizenship and Immigration Canada for permanent resident status in Canada. The CELPIP General-LS is a two-skill (listening and speaking) English language proficiency test accepted by Citizenship and Immigration Canada for Canadian citizenship. Register at https://www.celpip.ca/region/saskatchewan/ or by calling 1-800-958-5186.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) measures your proficiency in English by testing your listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. IELTS is accepted by over 10,000 organizations in 135 countries worldwide, including university employers, professional bodies and immigration authorities. Learn more about test dates, application and fees, preparation and test results at www.ielts.org or ieltssaskatchewan.ca.
