This information is for returning students who have taken some Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) courses but have not yet completed the program. If you are a new student, this information does not apply to you. Please return to the program home page and find the most current information there. For returning students, please be advised of recent course changes which may impact you.

The following courses have been removed from the CCA Program.

  • SPCR 180 – Safe Environment.
  • NUTR 198 – Nutrition
  • SPCR 184 – Post-Acute Care
  • SPCR 103 – Assisting with Special Procedures
  • DEMC 183 – Dementia Behavior
  • DEMC 280 – Dementia Family

Please note that students who have already completed these courses will still receive credit for them and will not need to take the new replacement courses.

  • For those who have not yet taken SPCR 180 (Safe Environment) you will need to register for SPCR 106 (Introduction to Caregiving) in its place.
  • For those who have not yet taken NUTR 198 (Nutrition) or SOCI 171 (Culture and Diversity in Canadian Society), you will now take SOCI 160 (Foundations of Sociology) in its place.

We have combined some of the previous courses that contain similar content and are better suited to be taken together. This impacts the following courses:

If you have taken all of these original courses, you will still receive credit for them and you do not need to take the newly combined courses. Otherwise, if you have not taken any of the original courses or have only taken one of them, you will take the newly combined courses going forward.
