Saskatchewan Polytechnic, in partnership with the UK’s National Skills Academy Nuclear (NSAN), is bringing recognized, industry-leading nuclear training to Canada. Whether you’re exploring a career in the nuclear sector or giving your organization a head start to prepare for Western Canada’s nuclear-powered future, these courses give you the skills and confidence you need to step into this growing field.
NSAN courses, exclusively available in Canada from Sask Polytech, provide an introduction
to the nuclear industry for non-technical employees and senior leaders who want to
begin building expertise in the sector.
Courses
These courses introduce your workforce to nuclear energy and small modular reactors (SMRs) while building knowledge of current industry practices, safety culture and compliance requirements.
You must have a computer with reliable Internet access, Microsoft Office and Teams.
Growing Awareness in Nuclear (GAIN) Lite
A focused, one-day introduction to the nuclear industry:
- Non-credit course.
- Seven hours.
- Live, interactive virtual delivery.
- Delivered by a subject matter expert via Microsoft Teams.
- Online learning resources to support your learning.
Developed for individuals beginning their journey into nuclear, GAIN Lite offers an accessible and practical first step. Delivered over one day, the course provides a clear introduction to the nuclear industry, helping learners understand the sector’s history, purpose, safety expectations and unique working environment.
It is particularly valuable for non-technical staff, new entrants, business support teams and people moving into nuclear from other industries, giving them the confidence and context they need to engage with the sector safely and effectively.
The course introduces essential themes including nuclear safety culture, regulation, security, radiation protection, the fuel cycle, waste management and emergency preparedness in a way that is clear, relevant and easy to apply.
GAIN Lite helps create shared understanding across the workforce, supports effective induction and onboarding and lays the foundations for a strong, safety-focused nuclear culture from the outset.

Introduction to the Nuclear Industry for Senior Leaders
A focused, one-day introduction to the nuclear industry, designed specifically for senior leaders.

This one-day course gives senior managers, decision-makers and key stakeholders a clear, practical introduction to the nuclear industry, helping them understand what makes nuclear different from other sectors.
The course builds confidence by exploring the key foundations of the sector, including nuclear safety culture, regulation, the fuel cycle, stakeholder responsibilities, operational requirements and the economic opportunities linked to nuclear development.
It helps leaders ask the right questions, understand the expectations of working in a highly regulated industry, and recognise the long-term value nuclear can bring to energy security, regional growth, jobs and supply chain development.
