Principles of Foot Care/LPN (NURS-1656)

You will enhance your knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the nail, foot and skin through a review of the related current literature. You will consider how to influence best practice and evidence-based practice in your workplace for this specialty. This course will also assist you to identify common nail and skin pathologies, review common instruments used in foot care, and enhance your understanding of the high risk foot. A mandatory 3 day clinical experience will be scheduled for you with an external agency at an additional cost to you. During the clinical you will have the opportunity for hands on practice under the supervision and guidance of an expert foot care nurse. Proof of successful completion of the clinical is required to pass this course. Pre-requisite: LPN
