You will develop knowledge and skills related to care of the patient with lower extremity wounds. Your study will include the anatomy, physiology and assessment of the body systems involved in lower extremity wounds. Your study will focus on the nursing management of wounds of the lower extremity including arterial ulcers, venous ulcers, mixed ulcers and neuropathic wounds. You will also discuss principles of prevention and management related to nutrition and control of diabetes. Your study will include the care of patients with specific needs such as neonatal, pediatric, older adults and people living with obesity.
