Many applicants contact us with similar questions regarding the selection procedures for the Dental Hygiene program. Here is additional information to assist you with your application to the program. Please carefully review the following frequently asked questions.

To ensure that your application is complete, you will need to submit the Saskatchewan Polytechnic application form and application fee between October 1 and February 15. All documents and transcripts for high school courses and post-secondary education must be received by March 1 in order to be considered. Final official transcripts must be received by August 1, 4:30 p.m. (Saskatchewan time).

Make a request to Saskatchewan Education to send your official transcript directly to Saskatchewan Polytechnic at the end of semester one (no later than March 1) and the end of semester two (end June). Final official transcripts must be received by August 1, 4:30 p.m. (Saskatchewan time).

Saskatchewan Polytechnic will not waive the second science requirement. You must have Bio 30 and Chem 30 to apply to the Dental Hygiene Program or an approved alternative. Please refer to approved alternatives chart.

 

Alternative courses are only used in the absence of grade 12 required courses. Please refer to approved alternatives chart.

An official transcript is required to be forwarded to Enrolment Services directly from the issuing educational institution. The high school average will be compared to any grade point average(s) (UGPA) presented for a minimum of 30 passed post-secondary credits from a recognized post-secondary institution - and the highest average considered for admission.

Make a request to your instructor to submit, in writing, relevant mid-term marks directly to Saskatchewan Polytechnic by February 28(29). Once you have completed Adult 12 or upgrading, make a request to Saskatchewan Education to send your final official transcript directly to Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Final official transcripts must be received by August 1.
Examples of relevant post-secondary education would include courses, certificates, diplomas, or degrees in the health fields, biological/human sciences, sociology/psychology or communications.

Yes. You will need to reapply to the Dental Hygiene program on an annual basis, during the application period, and meet all admission requirements and selection criteria for the year in which you are applying.

No, as there are specific allotted seats in the dental hygiene program it is not possible at this time to go right into the second year.
