On December 1, with students, staff and faculty at Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Technology Accreditation Canada (TAC) celebrated accreditation renewal of four programs: Environmental Engineering Technology, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, Civil Engineering Technologies, and Architectural Technologies (Building Sciences and Interior Design). National program accreditation involves a comprehensive audit, including interviews with employers of graduates, alumni, students and faculty, and a tour of the programs’ labs and student support services.

“We congratulate the Saskatchewan Polytechnic team on the successful accreditation renewal of the four programs,” comments Stephen Morley, chair, TAC board of directors. “This achievement demonstrates the institution’s ongoing commitment to delivering high quality programs which meet the standards of the engineering technology and applied science profession.”

"On behalf of Saskatchewan Polytechnic, I'd like to thank Technology Accreditation Canada for this acknowledgement,” says Brenda Suru, interim dean, School of Mining, Energy & Manufacturing, School of Natural Resources & Built Environment, and Department of Co-operative Education. “We’re very pleased to have our accreditations renewed for the four programs. It validates that our programs are meeting the requirements of our industry partners and that our graduates have the credentials required for successful careers in industry.”

Achieving national program accreditation provides students, industry and the educational institution confidence the program has met defined standards. Accreditation also affords graduates an expedited path to certification through Technology Professionals Saskatchewan (TPS) and provincial certifying bodies across Canada.
