Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s dental clinic has been an important part of student learning and community service since it opened in the 1970s. Today, the team at Sask Polytech’s dental clinic at Regina Campus is still focused on giving to the community in an updated facility using the latest technology and techniques.

Hands-on learning in the dental clinic enables our students to integrate classroom learning with real-world practice. Under the supervision of licensed dentists and dental hygienists, students get first-hand experience in providing comprehensive dental and hygiene care.

Client service and safety is a top priority throughout the enhanced clinic which adheres to the infection and prevention control standards set out by the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Dental Hygienists’ Association. This ensures our clients receive a quality experience and our students are prepared to work with the latest technology after they graduate.

When visiting the clinic, clients receive dental care while helping students get experience during their studies at Sask Polytech. Dental care is provided by licensed dental therapists, dentists and dental assistants who are assisted by Sask Polytech Dental Assisting students. Preventative dental care is provided by Dental Hygiene students, under the supervision of licensed dental hygienists and dentists.

The clinic was recently upgraded to include 38 client rooms, 31 of which are enclosed, to provide separation and privacy for clients and staff. The newly renovated space includes improved ventilation and air purification for comfort and safety.

“The clinic offers our students the opportunity to apply their learning with hands-on experiences using the latest technology and techniques, so they are prepared to meet industry standards when they graduate,” says Sharman Woynarski, academic chair, Specialty Nursing and Dental programs. “Members of our community also benefit as they receive the oral care they need at an affordable price. This is a mutually beneficial partnership.”

“Each of our students is guided through client care as part of their training,” says Woynarski. “We welcome clients of all ages, with or without dental health coverage. Our clinic offers a wide range of discounted dental services including dental hygiene and care, examinations, extractions, fillings, fluoride treatments, nutrition and tobacco cessation information, oral cancer screening, mouth guards, pit and fissure sealants, scaling and polishing and x-rays.”

The Sask Polytech dental clinic is located at Regina Campus, 4500 Wascana Parkway, 5th Floor. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 306-775-7531.
