  • Sask Polytech summer trades camps introduce girls to trades

    Sask Polytech summer trades camps introduce girls to trades - July 12, 2018 – Girls ages 12-15 are attending week-long trades and technology camps at Saskatchewan Polytechnic this month. Girls Exploring Trades and Technology (GETT) camps provide participants with a safe, supportive environment to explore the tools, equipment and skills needed for a trades and technology career. GETT campers are taught a variety of trades and technology skills with the final project being a desk made of recycled pallets.

    Mind Over Metal welding camp at Sask Polytech set to spark change - July 12, 2018 –The Saskatchewan Polytechnic Women in Trades and Technology (WITT) program has partnered with the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Welding Foundation to host a Mind Over Metal welding summer camp for girls in grades 9-12. The week-long camp is being hosted at Sask Polytech campuses.

Northwest Community College and Saskatchewan Polytechnic partnership brings Warehouse Worker program to Prince Rupert, BC

June 6, 2018 –Northwest Community College (NWCC) and Saskatchewan Polytechnic instructors are working together to deliver the Warehouse Worker program through a blended classroom that includes two-way video conferencing and online training to Indigenous students in Prince Rupert. Students will be required to complete training activities online outside of the virtual classroom.

Between April 23 and 28, Sask Polytech’s Moose Jaw campus featured a haunting display of nearly 30 red dresses, hung in both inside and outside, and ten banners with a total of 306 photos and stories of some of the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

Nursing is one of the most rewarding careers you can choose — it’s an opportunity to help others, improve health outcomes and creates a positive impact on the lives of many people. But, the road to get there can be challenging at times and combining cultural concepts of health and healing can cause some students unnecessary struggles. By providing Indigenous students with support and counselling services, Sask Polytech aims to address this barrier and ensure all students have an equal opportunity to achieve their educational and career goals.
