Caitlin was taking a year off after high school with plans to begin her post-secondary education when the sudden loss of the father figure in her life altered her direction.

    Dinner connects business and industry with Moose Jaw students - December 5, 2018 – Saskatchewan Polytechnic Business and Industry Dinners presented by Graham Group provide a valuable applied learning opportunity for students to build networks for their future careers. Employers in attendance are provided the opportunity to meet with potential future hires. This year’s keynote speakers are Business Administration program alumni Ken and Angela McDougall. The McDougalls are fourth generation farmers who have turned their family farm, McDougall Acres, into an independent seed retailer business offering seed treatment, cleaning and colour sorting services.

    Promoting agricultural education & employment opportunities for young learners - November 29, 2018 – Saskatchewan Polytechnic and Sun West School Division teamed up on an Agricultural Equipment Technician boot camp for high school learners. Over 50 learners were in attendance. This follows the success of the partnership formed last spring between the Canada Equipment Dealers Foundation, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Sun West School Division and the Western Equipment Dealers Association to introduce grade 11 and 12 learners to agricultural-related careers.

    Saskatchewan Polytechnic and Your Choice Homes partner on construction training for Indigenous youth as part of the Youth Employment Strategy - November 28, 2018 – Saskatchewan Polytechnic is partnering with Your Choice Homes (YCHomes) to provide training opportunities for Indigenous high school students. Sask Polytech’s School of Construction is providing online training materials for Indigenous youth as part of YCHomes high school practical arts program. Through this program, students earn high school credit and hours towards their apprenticeship training should they choose to continue.

Sask Polytech summer trades camps introduce girls to trades

July 12, 2018 – Girls ages 12-15 are attending week-long trades and technology camps at Saskatchewan Polytechnic this month. Girls Exploring Trades and Technology (GETT) camps provide participants with a safe, supportive environment to explore the tools, equipment and skills needed for a trades and technology career. GETT campers are taught a variety of trades and technology skills with the final project being a desk made of recycled pallets.

Mind Over Metal welding camp at Sask Polytech set to spark change

July 12, 2018 –The Saskatchewan Polytechnic Women in Trades and Technology (WITT) program has partnered with the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Welding Foundation to host a Mind Over Metal welding summer camp for girls in grades 9-12. The week-long camp is being hosted at Sask Polytech campuses.
