There is one Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN) Assessment Centre in Saskatchewan, which is located at Saskatchewan Polytechnic Regina Campus. You will need to contact the centre after you receive the referral letter from your provincial regulatory body indicating which Substantially Equivalent Competency (SEC) assessment is required. You will then be emailed a preliminary SEC assessment letter that informs you of what requirements you have to provide to be able to book your SEC assessment.
Requirements prior to booking your SEC assessment
- Provincial regulatory body letter
- The letter will indicate that you have been referred for a SEC assessment and which type of SEC assessment(s) you are to complete.
- English language proficiency requirement
- The regulatory body may have indicated that you were required to show evidence of your English language fluency and that this evidence must be provided before you can book your SEC assessment.
- Regulatory body approved English language test
- You must meet the regulatory body English language requirements.
- Permission to enter Canada (Visa, Landed Immigrant Status, etc.)
- If you require special permission to enter Canada to attend your SEC assessment, you are required to email or fax evidence of that permission to the IEN Assessment Centre.
Booking your SEC assessment
If the requirements have been met, phone or email the Saskatchewan IEN Assessment Centre to schedule your SEC assessment. Bookings depend on the type of SEC and on the availability of appointments. You will be sent a confirmation letter of your booking.
