Karsyn discovered the Business program while attending a high school career fair. After checking out information from a variety of post-secondary institutions, she chose Sask Polytech. “It has so many options and it looked like the best choice to get to my career goals fast.”
Taking the Business program meant moving from the family home in Regina to an apartment in Moose Jaw. It was a big change and Karsyn credits the Summer Transition Program with getting her started on the right foot.
“The program introduced me to the many resources available to students at Sask Polytech,” she says. “I applied for and received some student awards, I used the library and learning services for writing help, and I used the Indigenous Student Centre for tutoring and as a place to relax and get a coffee.”
Karsyn graduated with her Business diploma in 2021 and is thinking about continuing her studies to become a funeral director.
“You have to look to the future,” Karsyn says. “A post-secondary program might seem like a long time, but it will go by so fast and before you know it, you’ll get to your goal. Even when it seems difficult or stressful, the benefits outweigh the negatives.”
