Program: Engineering Design and Drafting Technology diploma

When it comes to a career, Ethan has high aspirations. He expects to graduate from the Engineering Design and Drafting Technology diploma program in 2022. After that, he plans on working for a few years before laddering into a physics or a mechanical engineering degree.

“Then I can pursue my dreams as a professional engineer under the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) and receive my engineering license and stamp,” says the Métis man.

Ethan discovered the program while doing career research. He had also heard good things about Sask Polytech from his brother. “He had only amazing things to say about the campus community."

Since then, Ethan’s own experience has backed up his brother’s reviews. “Instructors are willing and ready to help any student with any problem they have, the faculty are amazing at what they do. They are great supports for students,” he says.

“One of my favorite memories is the first time I walked into the Indigenous Students’ Centre—I was immediately treated as if I had been there for five years. They were so accepting. I feel grateful to be a part of this wonderful community.”

Ethan may have big dreams, but he isn’t afraid of a challenge. “When we challenge ourselves, even if we fall a few times, when we get back up, we demonstrate our ability to continue and be strong for ourselves.”
