Program: Practical Nursing diploma
Morgan’s mom Karen not only encouraged her to go back to school—she led the way. First through upgrading and then into the Practical Nursing program.
“One thing I will cherish forever is taking the program with my role model and mother—not everyone can say that, but I can,” Morgan says.
“My favourite memory is taking the program with my daughter,” Karen agrees. “We were able to bounce ideas off each other, work together on assignments, encourage each other, vent to each other and support each other when times got tough.”
“Beginning with the Adult Basic Education program, I’ve been attending Sask Polytech since 2014,” Karen says. “It’s been stressful, but I’ve enjoyed my time here because of the support from instructors and counsellors.”
As mother and daughter prepare to move from studying to work, Morgan takes a moment to ponder her past. “I wish I was the student I am now in high school, so I could have started my career sooner,” she says.
“You’re never too old to get an education!” Karen says. “Don’t give up, push yourself— there is a light at the end of the tunnel.”
