Kellen, a Métis man, says the best part about being a student at Sask Polytech is the teachers and the staff.
"They really make the experience a great one," he says. "That, and I've made a lot of really good friends along the way."
Growing up in Birch Hills, a small community southeast of Prince Albert, meant that Kellen had to adjust to big city life when he moved to Saskatoon.
"Sask Polytech helped make the transition easier for me. I accessed Indigenous student services and the available scholarships help make paying for school easier too."
Kellen says that if he could go back in time, he would tell his younger self to try harder and learn and practise good study habits.
"You have to stay positive. Set goals and work to meet them," he says. "Power Engineering Technology is a great program to take but you really have to apply yourself and put the work in. It's totally worth it in the end."
