Industrial Mechanics Pathway for Indigenous Women

Build your skills and take the next step toward launching your career as an Industrial Mechanic

The Industrial Mechanics certificate program teaches you the basic knowledge and skills you need to install, repair, overhaul and maintain stationary, industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. In collaboration with Women in Trades and Technology (WITT), the Industrial Mechanics Pathway for Indigenous Women combines the 32-week Industrial Mechanics certificate program with an additional four weeks of enriched supports and training.

Pathway for Indigenous women

You’ll benefit from a specialized two-week orientation before the program begins on September 14, 2026. Tour the Prince Albert campus and gain fundamental basics through the introduction of equipment used during the Industrial Mechanics program.

Throughout the Industrial Mechanics program you’ll work in well-equipped shops with highly qualified instructors. You’ll get practical, hands-on training in:

  • basic math, drafting and blueprint reading
  • basic welding, fabrication and installation
  • pumps and pipe fitting
  • mechanical components
  • using tools of the trade

Once you complete the Industrial Mechanics certificate, you’ll apply your skills for an additional two weeks of work experience. This hands-on experience will prepare you for an in-demand career in oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, milling, power generation and chemical plants.

Bursary

The Cameco Indigenous Women Industrial Mechanics Entrance Bursary will be offered in 2026-27 to six Indigenous women. You must be enrolled in the Industrial Mechanics certificate program offered at Prince Albert campus and meet the eligibility criteria of the Industrial Mechanics Pathways for Indigenous Women program.
