
Digital Upskilling for the Mining Sector is a training program designed to support and engage people interested in working in mining or already working in the sector and wanting to upskill. Priority will be given to Indigenous people, women and newcomers to Canada.
Location and training dates
The program is held in person at the Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Regina Campus.
There are two intakes available:
- February 4 - 20, 2025 (6:30 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday evenings)
- February 8/9, 15/16 and, 22/23, 2025 (10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays)
Program overview
This program consists of 25 hours of classroom-based training. The training received will serve individuals that are currently unemployed or under-employed by enhancing their digital skills and workplace essential skills, and helping them get connected to the labour market.
During the program, you will:
- Participate in computer training that develops fundamental digital skills relevant to the mining industry.
- Participate in an assessment of your current skills for success, understanding potential gaps and strategies to reduce them.
- Enhance foundational digital skills for success to secure and maintain employment in the mining industry.
- Receive professional guidance in your job search, including continued access to support for resume creation, cover letter development and interview preparation.
Business + Higher Education Roundtable covers the majority of the tuition costs for the program; however, participants must pay a $250 fee. If this fee is cost prohibitive to enter the program, please contact us to discuss alternate arrangements.
Eligibility requirements
To be considered you must:
- Have three years of work and/or volunteer experience.
- Be currently seeking employment and/or working in a job that is not in alignment with your career goals.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.

- Complete the Digital Upskilling in Mining intake form and attach your resume.
- Sask Polytech will contact you to arrange an essential skills assessment.
- You will receive confirmation of acceptance or denial to the program.
