Sask Polytech celebrates graduates at Prince Albert campus convocation

An important career milestone is achieved for 900 Prince Albert students 

May 30, 2024 – Today Saskatchewan Polytechnic celebrated the achievements of its graduates and recognized outstanding award recipients at the Prince Albert campus convocation ceremony. More than 900 students were invited to attend this momentous event, marking the next steps of their professional journey. Sask Polytech graduates are well-equipped to make a significant impact in their respective fields. One out of every 19 jobs in Saskatchewan are supported by the activities of Sask Polytech, its students and alumni.

“It is an honour to celebrate our Prince Albert campus graduating class of 2024,” says Dr. Larry Rosia, Sask Polytech president and CEO. “Your dedication, perseverance and countless hours of hard work have paid off. As part of the convocation tradition, Sask Polytech recognized extraordinary individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievements and embodied the institution's vision, mission and values. Sask Polytech’s vision is to empower a better Saskatchewan and its mission is to inspire success in every learning journey. Congratulations to the Prince Albert campus award recipients. 

Jennifer Bolds is the recipient of the Governor General’s Academic Bronze Medal for the highest average in the Prince Albert campus Adult 12 program. 

Andrew Evan Kuras, a graduate of the Resource and Environmental Law diploma program, is the recipient of the Governor General’s Academic Collegiate Bronze Medal for the highest average at the Prince Albert campus. 

Angela Letendre, a Business instructor at Prince Albert campus was honoured for her commitment to teaching. Letendre was awarded the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Teaching Award. In a special gesture to celebrate students from India, she orchestrated a Holi festival, a traditional Hindu celebration welcoming the arrival of spring. Furthermore, Letendre has curated engaging learning experiences for her students such as the blanket exercise, an interactive educational activity that teaches the history of colonization in Canada.

Laiken Belliveau, a Mental Health and Addictions Counselling program graduate, received the Outstanding Citizenship Award. Passionate about mental health, Beliveau actively participated in the Bell Let’s Talk events on campus in both 2023 and 2024. With four years of sobriety, she openly shares her journey of addiction recovery, educating peers and serving as a casual outreach worker at STC Health Centre.

Sask Polytech awarded an honorary degree in Applied Studies to Chief Tammy Cook-Searson of Lac La Ronge Indian Band. 

Sask Polytech is known for producing exceptional graduates and has over 6,000 students that are eligible to graduate across all four campuses this spring. Sask Polytech plays a vital role in fueling provincial growth by providing qualified, work-ready graduates to meet labour market demand. This is demonstrated by consistently high graduate employment rates. Sask Polytech currently has a 95 per cent graduate employment rate and 92 per cent Indigenous graduate employment rate.
