Saskatchewan Polytechnic recently hosted its third annual Supply Chain Day, bringing together students, faculty and industry experts to discuss current issues and foster collaboration within Saskatchewan’s supply chain industry.

The event, held at Moose Jaw campus, saw an impressive turnout of 150 Supply Chain Management post-graduate certificate students eager to learn from industry leaders and gain valuable insights into Saskatchewan’s evolving supply chain landscape. With 15 industry professionals in attendance, the event provided an excellent platform for networking and knowledge exchange.

“One of the highlights of the day was a thought-provoking panel discussion on the state of the Saskatchewan supply chain industry in 2024,” says Nigel Cooper, program head, Supply Chain Management. “Sask Polytech's industry partners played a crucial role in the success of the event, making presentations and participating in the panel discussion. Their involvement provides students with a unique opportunity to hear directly from industry leaders, reinforcing their classroom learning and exposing them to real-world challenges and solutions.”

Steven Jose, Supply Chain Management student shares, “It was fantastic to connect with industry experts during the conference. The day was enriched with music and enlightening discussions focusing on Indigenous procurement and the significant impact of AI on procurement and the supply chain landscape in Canada.”

Supply Chain panel

In addition to the panel discussion, students who participated in 2024 Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) London Ontario Chapter Case Competition were recognized at the event. This national virtual case competition provided an experiential learning opportunity for students to analyze a real-world business issue, assess alternatives and recommend a solution. The Moose Jaw campus team was recognized as runners-up at the national competition.
