New collaboration will help international students develop their English language skills and prepare for studies and life in Canada

January 18, 2023 –Saskatchewan Polytechnic recently partnered with The Language Gallery Canada to offer international students English language training. This contract will provide international students access to The Language Gallery Canada's comprehensive language programs and expert instructors. English language programs will be delivered online and in-person.

“The Language Gallery Canada is known for its innovative teaching methods and its focus on practical language skills, which aligns perfectly with the hands-on, experiential approach that is the hallmark of a Sask Polytech education,” says Thevi Pather, associate vice-president International. “This agreement will help to ensure international students are well-prepared for success in Saskatchewan.”

This partnership will allow us to do what we do best and prepare the students for their success in Canada as they complete their education at Saskatchewan Polytechnic,” says Paul Denman, director, The Language Gallery Canada. “The Language Gallery Canada will ensure that the students are provided with ample support for an enhanced and successful learning experience.”

English language training is an important service to offer to international students. Sask Polytech’s international framework enriches students’ learning; prepares them for an increasingly multicultural global workplace; and enhances faculty and staff capabilities through collaborations, partnerships and experiences. Aligning with both provincial and federal international education growth strategies, Sask Polytech has focused on diversification of international student recruitment and retention as a key priority. In 2021-2022, Sask Polytech launched the institutional Global Engagement Plan, which guides the institution’s international strategy.

The Language Gallery Canada will help students improve their fluency and grammatical accuracy. Through The Language Gallery Canada international students will develop their practical communication skills in speaking and writing as well as reading and listening.

All international students are required to meet English language requirements and provide evidence of their language skills. These skills are required to be successful in a Sask Polytech program.
