Planning is underway to support a safe return to Saskatchewan Polytechnic campuses this September.
Here are 11 tips to help you prepare for the fall 2021 semester!
- Wear a mask! Masks are required indoors at all campus locations. Students can supply their own masks, unless their program calls for specialized PPE which will be supplied. Wearing masks on campus will be reconsidered on a regular basis in Fall 2021.
- Get vaccinated! Given the continued number of COVID-19 cases, the emerging Delta variant and the low vaccination rate among the 18 – 29 year old demographic that largely makes up the student population, Sask Polytech has determined the best course of action is to require students and employees on campus to be fully vaccinated. The first vaccination must be completed by September 17 and the second vaccination by October 22. We are working with the Saskatchewan Health Authority to host convenient and accessible vaccination clinics on all campuses during Welcome Week, August 30 to September 3.
- Attend orientation! Join a live Zoom session or the go-at-your-own-pace online orientation to learn about the many supports and services available to help you succeed in your studies. The online orientation is delivered using Brightspace—Sask Polytech’s online course system—where you’ll soon be logging in to your courses. saskpolytech.ca/orientation
- Log into mysaskpolytech! mySaskPolytech is the place to go to view grades, access online courses, check email, pay tuition and see other personalized online services from Sask Polytech.
- Connect with Library Services and Learning Services to learn more about the learning resources available to help you succeed in your studies.
- Sign up for wellness emails with Fit and Rec to receive updates on programming, classes, events, contests and more happening throughout the year.
- Stay tuned for locker info! Details on the locker booking process will be shared as they become available. Direct locker inquiries to lockers@saskpolytech.ca.
- Are you driving to campus? Parking the first two weeks of classes (Aug 30 – Sept 9) is free! Paid, scramble student parking will take effect beginning September 10. All payment and administration of student parking will be through the HONK app and onsite at PreciseParklink machines. Visit Parking & Transit for details on parking access, maps and fees.
- Accessibility Services is committed to ensuring that equal access for students with disabilities is provided at Sask Polytech. Students in need of accommodations are encouraged to register with Accessibility Services as soon as possible. This includes students who are unable to wear a mask for medical reasons. Students with disabilities together with their accessibility consultant work to identify the best solution for academic success.
