Saskatchewan Polytechnic appoints new VP, Advancement and International

Patricia Bowron brings 30 years of strategic leadership in public, private and non-profit sectors to the role


January 8, 2020 – Saskatchewan Polytechnic is pleased to announce Patricia Bowron as the new vice-president of Advancement and International. Prior to joining Sask Polytech, Bowron was at the College of the Rockies for 22 years, where she held a number of leadership roles that focused on strategic business and partnership development initiatives with government and industry in British Columbia, Canada and abroad.

“Patricia brings with her a wealth of leadership and strategic experience, from the Canadian college system and beyond. Her career journey has included leadership roles in academics and international and community development. Her diverse experience also includes work in oil and gas, healthcare, tourism, agriculture, business and finance,” says Dr. Larry Rosia, president and CEO. “The appointment of Patricia to the role of Sask Polytech’s vice-president of Advancement and International follows a highly competitive national search.” 

“I am passionate about the role post-secondary education plays in changing lives for both Canadian and international students,” says Bowron. “Advocacy, relationship building and stakeholder engagement have been at the forefront of my career journey. I am excited to bring this experience to Sask Polytech.”

At the College of the Rockies Bowron most recently served as the vice-president, Partnership and Advancement, with a focus on institution-wide collaboration and growth. Bowron also served as executive director and dean at the college. Bowron is a life-long teacher, facilitator and coach, having worked with the BC Open Learning Agency, Selkirk College and University of Calgary. She has also worked as a leadership consultant for numerous colleges and technical institutes transforming to polytechnics and universities in Kenya, Tanzania and Ecuador. In addition, Bowron has served as chairperson and vice-president on various boards engaged in extensive changes in mandate, leadership and funding. 

Bowron has an Emergency Medical Technician - Ambulance certificate from SAIT. She received her undergraduate degree in Physical Education from the University of Calgary. She also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary.
