Saskatchewan Polytechnic and Universidad Cuauhtémoc collaboration brings valuable international educational and academic opportunities for culinary arts diploma students
May 2, 2019 – Thanks to a memorandum of understanding signed by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and Universidad Cuauhtémoc, eight Culinary Arts students from Sask Polytech are embarking on a study abroad to Aguascalientes, Mexico in May. While in Mexico students will learn about Mexican culture, cuisine and participate in the Universidad Cuauhtémoc’s Culinary Arts program.

"This is an exciting international relationship with Universidad Cuauhtémoc. We look forward to hearing about our students’ Culinary Arts experiences in Mexico, and tasting a few of the recipes they bring back to Canada!”
This is the second year Sask Polytech Culinary Arts diploma students have traveled to Mexico in partnership with the Universidad Cuauhtémoc. The experience takes place over a week with students taking classes, touring restaurants and food operations, and having an immersive experience with culture and cuisine.
"We are thrilled to receive, once again, students from the Sask Polytech Culinary Arts program,” says Pamela Michelle López Torres, International Department, Universidad Cuauhtémoc. “It's amazing to be able to share part of our culture and a little about our roots with the amazing students and instructors coming all the way from Saskatchewan. We can't think of a better way to experience all of this, but through food!"
One of Universidad Cuauhtémoc’s goals is to offer students international experiences and exchanges. Canada is one of the favorite countries for Mexican students to do an exchange or to study abroad. Thanks to the memorandum of understanding signed by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and Universidad Cuauhtémoc, this can be a possibility in the future.
Saskatchewan Polytechnic serves students through applied learning opportunities at campuses in Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina and Saskatoon, and through extensive distance education opportunities. Programs serve every economic and public service sector. As a polytechnic, the organization provides the depth of learning appropriate to employer and student need, including certificate, diploma and degree programs, and apprenticeship training. Saskatchewan Polytechnic engages in applied research, drawing on faculty expertise to support innovation by employers, and providing students the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills.
