Learn how to improve your mental, physical and spiritual health during Wellness Wednesday

With midterms in full swing and final deadlines quickly approaching, it can be all too easy to fall into unhealthy habits. That’s why Sask Polytech is taking a day to promote general well-being with its first-ever Wellness Wednesday on October 25.

“We recognize the importance of wellness for our students and our staff,” says Wayne Stadnyk, interim director of Student Services. “Wellness is about taking care of our complete selves – emotional, physical, spiritual and mental.”

The goal of Wellness Wednesday, which will see a variety of activities take place across all four main campus locations, is to help promote behaviours and habits that allow people to embrace wellness and help maximize the potential for success in their lives and in their careers.

“We encourage everyone to participate in any of the wellness activities we are hosting on Wellness Wednesday,” says Stadnyk. “You’ll be able to get tips and take-aways that will help you lead a full and successful life.”

Stadnyk also says that Wellness Wednesday offers a chance for people to find support and start conversations that will help remove associated stigmas, especially with mental illness. He also says that this day will help students learn about the services and initiatives that are available year-round, such as the yellow bench at the Regina campus, which encourages peer-to-peer conversations about mental health.

“Once we fully embrace wellness to improve our minds, our bodies and our spirit, we can move on to lead a full and productive life,” says Stadnyk.

Events taking place on October 25 include informative displays, conversation circles, come-and-go information sessions and other events. Find out what’s happening on your campus!
