Health and Wellness Day

Health and Wellness Day

Dentists, dental therapists, denturists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, nurses and more than 80 Sask Polytech students, faculty and staff volunteers, come together to provide easy access to quality health care.

This event is by invitation only. Participants must attend a pre-assessment appointment so we can determine what care is required. The number of people we see each year is dependent on our dental professional volunteers, time and amount of supplies.

Date: March 26, 2022

Health and Wellness Day (formally Dental Day) was created in 2012 as a response to the barriers many people face within our community in accessing oral care. The name was changed this year as we have taken an interprofessional approach to address a holistic health and wellness approach. We recognize that there are many people who need help and we try to target those with the greatest need by partnering with the Regina Food Bank, LINC program and the Regina Open Door Society.

We thank all of our volunteers and sponsors for their continued support.

Student Volunteers

"We wanted to be a part of Health and Wellness day as a way of giving back to our community. We wanted to see first-hand how our health care community would come together and help improve the overall health of those in need. Unfortunately, finances are a major barrier to access dental care, so providing free care is a great way to help those in need. Health and Wellness Day is a safe environment where people will be given resources and education on how to maintain good oral health and overall health in the future. Health and Wellness day is a rewarding experience to both the volunteers and to those receiving the treatment. We are excited to be a part of this journey and are thankful to those who volunteer their time." ~Year 3 Dental Hygiene students

"We chose to volunteer for Health and Wellness Day for a few reasons. One, it’s a wonderful way to network, meet new people and see a variety of procedures. The second reason is to give back to the community. Oral Health is so important and can be linked to a variety of health issues if not taken care of and maintained. With Health and Wellness Day, it is a great way to help those who may not have the resources. After two years of COVID and how detrimental its been on everyone, this day is needed more than ever. We can’t wait to give back to the community and help those who need it most!" ~Dental Assisting students
