Applied Research Course Release
The Office of Applied Research and Innovation (OARI) is excited to announce a new internal funding initiative for a course release to support faculty engagement in externally funded applied research applications and projects. The funds are intended to release faculty from one class per semester, to allow them to focus on externally funded applied research projects and related activities which are in line with their school’s research strategy and priorities. Each course release award will provide a maximum of $7,000 in funding.
Guidelines
Saskatchewan Polytechnic, through the Office Applied Research and Innovation, would like to support faculty’s involved in applied research activities that include collaborations with business, industry, community, other research institutions, agencies and partners.
Saskatchewan Polytechnic expects that faculty undertaking applied research activities will adhere to applicable policies and commit to meeting all the conditions of project.
Application process
Applied Research Course Release (ARCR) applications will be submitted to the dean’s office for approval prior to submission to OARI.
Selection of stipend recipients will be made by the Office of Applied Research and Innovation. Support will be provided when the criteria for funding is met and based on available of funding. Selection criteria will include one of the following:
- involvement on a current externally funded applied research project
- involvement on a externally funded grant application
- writing an externally funded grant application
Application deadline
A call for applications will remain open, and applications will be reviewed as they are submitted. Successful nominees will be eligible for funding for the following semester.
Value
Applied Research Course Release stipends will contribute up to $7,000 per semester and up to three awards are available per faculty per competition year.
Applicant eligibility
The ARCR fund is open to all Saskatchewan Polytechnic faculty members.
Announcement of awards
Applicants will be advised of results within one week of submission. Funds will be available for use immediately.
No use of funds will be allowed without a proper valid ethics protocol if required.
Reporting
Recipients will participate in applied research awareness efforts, including participation in Saskatchewan Polytechnic wide presentations and promotion. Recipients will be required to submit a brief report to OARI summarizing the activities and potential developing opportunities with the partner.
How to apply
Please fill out the online application form. Complete all required fields, and then hit “SAVE” this will allow you to send the application to your dean or designate for approval. Once the save button is hit, a pop up will appear, please either copy the link provided, or enter your dean or designates email address in the appropriate field. The approver can then open the application, review, and approve. The approver must provide their signature, and then hit "SUBMIT", once submitted, the application will go directly to OARI for approval.
