Celebrating the value of a polytechnic education at the Sask Polytech, Saskatoon Campus convocation

Saskatchewan Polytechnic honours its graduates and award winners at in-person ceremony

June 20, 2022 – Today Saskatchewan Polytechnic celebrated the learning journey of graduates, along with award recipients, at the in-person Saskatoon campus convocation ceremonies. More than 1,700 students were invited to attend Saskatoon campus convocation. Sask Polytech has over 4,700 students walking across the stage at convocation for 2022. Sask Polytech, Saskatoon Campus graduates are joining a dynamic and diverse alumni network that is more than 150,000 strong.

“Congratulations to our Sask Polytech, Saskatoon Campus graduates; I commend you for your perseverance, resilience and dedication,” says Dr. Larry Rosia, Sask Polytech president and CEO. “The education you have received here will serve you in ways you cannot imagine. It is my hope that you continue to maintain your relationship with Sask Polytech far into the future. Finally, thank you for choosing our institution for your post-secondary education needs. I wish you every success as you embark on all that awaits. The future of our province is brighter today.”

It is a Sask Polytech convocation tradition to recognize extraordinary graduates, faculty and people in each campus community for their distinguished achievements and for modelling the institution’s vision, mission and values. Sask Polytech’s vision is to empower a better Saskatchewan and its mission is to inspire success in every learning journey. Congratulations to the Saskatoon campus award recipients.

Aida Laaouina was recognized with the Governor General’s Academic Bronze Medal for the highest average in the Saskatoon campus Adult 12 program.

Benjamin Boyko, a graduate of the Interactive Design & Technology program, was recognized with the Governor General’s Academic Collegiate Bronze Medal for the highest average at the Saskatoon campus.

Michelle Pavloff, research chair for Rural Health, received the Applied Research Award for Excellence. For the past two years Pavloff has been working on a Sask Polytech applied research project to identify key features for a mental health support system for Saskatchewan farmers and ranchers.

Wendy Doell, Business instructor, received the Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching. Doell’s passion and professionalism, coupled with her experience and background in economics and business, are key contributors to her pursuit of excellence.

Sask Polytech is known for its quality programming and graduates. We fuel provincial growth by providing qualified, work-ready graduates to meet labour market demand. This is demonstrated by consistently high graduate employment rates. Sask Polytech currently has a 94 per cent graduate employment rate.
