You will be introduced to basic computer concepts. The course content includes computer components, hardware, software, working in a graphical user interface, file management, word processing and the Internet. Now that Saskatchewan has enacted the Environmental Management and Protection Act, persons involved in the servicing of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment in the province require Halocarbon certification. A training manual developed by the Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Institute of Canada will be used in this course. The training material reflects the following three industry sectors: automotive, stationary and appliance. An inter-provincially and nationally recognized (by Environment Canada) certificate will be issued to those who successfully complete the course (75% required for successful completion).

This course is designed to give the technician in a repair shop the necessary knowledge to carry out the SGI inspection procedure as it pertains to school buses. Discussion includes latest changes to inspection criteria as well as live demonstrations and shop exercises. There will be an exam at the conclusion of the course with a 70% pass requirement. The course is 32 hours in length and consists of classroom lecture and in-shop activities on actual units.

Students are required to bring a copy of the CSA D250 School Bus Safety Standards manual. This can be ordered online or by calling 1-800-463-6727. PPE, including safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection and work gloves are also required.
