Gas Metal Arc Welding (CE_BD-5730)

In this course students will learn the theory of Pulsed Technologies (PT) and why they are making such a difference in today's industries. Students will be able to identify and choose the size and type of filler wire and the type of shielding gas to be used based on materials and WPS. Students will learn how to make open root welds (PT) in the flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions on pipe of various diameters. Open root (PT) in the flat position on rolling pipe of various diameters. Students will also weld using flux-cored electrode wire (FCAW) in all positions for the fill and cap process of pipe. As part of the pipe welding process, there will be a special emphasis on proper fit-up layout and techniques that will coincide with all major testing agencies (CWS, ASME, API, etc.)
