Recognition of Prior Learning

The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Office creates and enhances a learning culture at Saskatchewan Polytechnic that internally and externally promotes and supports all aspects of the recognition of prior learning.

Recognition of Prior Learning includes Dual Credit, Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) and Transfer Credit.

Dual Credit

Dual Credit courses allow students to take select Saskatchewan Polytechnic courses as part of their high school studies earning both secondary and post-secondary credits at the same time.

Prior Learning and Recognition (PLAR)

PLAR is a process of evaluating the knowledge and skills gained through experiential and non-formal learning for the purpose of obtaining credit in a Saskatchewan Polytechnic course.

Transfer Credit

Transfer Credit is the acknowledgement of formal learning from another recognized post-secondary institution and its application toward a Saskatchewan Polytechnic credential.

As part of its commitment to fostering increased capacity for recognizing prior learning, Saskatchewan Polytechnic offers practical training in RPL practices through the Recognition of Prior Learning Practitioner Program (RPLP)  delivered through distance education. Courses are available throughout the academic year
