Welcome to the Instructional and Leadership Development Centre (ILDC).

Sask Polytech recognizes the importance of developing and enriching the instructional and academic leadership roles of faculty through formal and well-integrated orientation, preparation, mentoring, and continuing instructor development programs. The Instructional and Leadership Development Centre (ILDC) team is dedicated to supporting professional journeys of all faculty at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Our goal is to offer relevant, timely professional development opportunities, one-on-one support, teaching resources and tips, as well as formal education opportunities to our faculty to promote and foster teaching excellence and to support a community of practice.

The centre's aim is to design, sustain and strengthen teaching, learning and leadership practices across Saskatchewan Polytechnic.

What do we do?

We provide new faculty with the opportunity to enhance their instructional skills, meet other colleagues and share strategies and practices in the planning and delivery of lesson plans through New Instructor Orientation that has an online component and a three-day face-to-face session. New instructors to Saskatchewan Polytechnic are required to complete the NIO during the first six months of their employment.

The Adult Teaching and Learning program is an 8-course, 24 credit unit advanced certificate program designed to develop and advance instructional and leadership skills of new and experienced faculty. The program combines the theoretical and practical aspects of teaching and learning offered in online and face-to-face environments. It provides instructors with opportunities for mentoring, networking, collegiality, scholarship in teaching and learning and the development of a community of practice.

ILDC offers professional development sessions that are aimed at enhancing and promoting the involvement of all interested faculty in developing their teaching and continuing their learning.  We offer workshops on instructional development, creating a teaching portfolio, technology integration, mentorship, teamwork, indigenizing your teaching and many other areas of interest.

As a recognized leader in the development and delivery of skills and technical training, Saskatchewan Polytechnic owes its success to the individual and collective efforts of its faculty and staff.
