Student Orientation

Welcome to the Saskatchewan Polytechnic community! We want you to get started and feel ready to embrace your academic journey with us. Join us for a series of orientation programming designed to help you learn about the many supports and services we have available to help you succeed in your studies and enhance your Sask Polytech experience.

Whether you prefer to explore at your own pace or dive right in, we’ve got you covered.  

Self-Guided Orientation is a go-at-your-own-pace online orientation accessible to all incoming students and available to revisit throughout the 2022-23 academic year.

Learn about the supports and services available to you as a student with this online orientation. It’s delivered using Brightspace—Sask Polytech’s online course system—where you’ll soon be logging into your courses.

  3. The contest is open to residents of Saskatchewan enrolled in a Saskatchewan Polytechnic program during the contest dates.
  4. Saskatchewan Polytechnic employees are not eligible to participate in the contest.
  5. This contest is not open to residents of Quebec.
  6. Each entrant may only submit one entry.
  7. The odds of winning this contest will depend upon the total number of entries.
  8. The Prize(s) will be awarded without consideration for regional allocation. Available prizes will decrease as they are awarded.
  9. By participating in this contest, entrants consent to the collection and use of their personal information by Saskatchewan Polytechnic, including name, address, telephone number, social media handles, social media posts, and any images submitted by the entrant by participating in the consent.  This personal information will be used to assess contest entries, to select and contact winners, to award prizes and for administration, marketing and promotional purposes.  Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Privacy Policy is available online.

Join us for a series of Zoom-delivered sessions throughout the summer covering various elements of Sask Polytech before you arrive. This multi-pronged approach will help ease you into the ins and outs of our campuses from the comfort of your own home.

Join us for a brief, informative live session as we help you prepare for in-person orientation, navigate the Sask Polytech website and build confidence in your student life.

This Zoom Q&A series familiarizes you with the departments essential to your studies. Each session covers different departments with designated speakers from each. Ask them anything, or simply sit back and listen. Sessions will be recorded. Registration required.

Getting Started Online introduces the tools for successful studies at Sask Polytech. The sessions will cover mySaskPolytech, Brightspace, Zoom, Office 365, Helpdesk and answer any questions you have.

On-campus tours

Sask Polytech staff will tour you around the campus and highlight key student spaces to provide you with a better understanding of the full student experience. You will be introduced to the many services available to support your academic journey as well as where your classes will be held. A friendly tour guide will be inside the main entrance to greet you.

No registration required. Available at all Sask Polytech main campuses. Over the summer months, you can also email studentlife@saskpolytech.ca and request a tour.

Start the year off right, both physically and mentally! There are many supports and services on campus to enhance your health and wellness journey.

During the week of September 12-16, explore an activity and be entered to win a prize package (valued at $100). For each activity you take part in, you will receive an entry.

  1. Healthy Food Choice: Purchase a marked “healthy food choice” item from hospitality services.
  2. Mindfulness Moments: Join us for a mindfulness moment via zoom on Wednesday, September 14 and receive an entry. Register here.
  3. Stay Active with Fitness and Recreation: Download the NEW! fit and rec app. Available on the Apple App store and Google Play, this new app gives you access to intramural schedules and eSports tournaments, fitness class info, upcoming events, job postings and more. Also, register for an intramural program offered by the Fitness and Recreation centre. At point of registration, your email will be automatically entered for the prize package.

Specialized orientations

In the spirit of intercultural connection, students with self-declaration are encouraged to explore the following specialized orientations as well.

The Summer Transition Program runs August 22 - 26, 2022, and is open to all Indigenous students registered for Sask Polytech courses starting in the fall. Organized by Sask Polytech’s Indigenous student advisors, it is designed to help students prepare for student life.
